Getting Started with MX Dyes

Whether you are brand new to the world of dyeing or just need a refresher, this workshop will get you started on a fun, easy journey of using the MX fiber reactive dyes. On the first day, you’ll begin by creating a 12 step color wheel, while learning how to prepare an immersion dye bath. Then an easy method of dyeing a six step gradation will be completed. You’ll finish the day exploring several low water immersion processes on cotton. On the second day, you’ll discover a variety of ways of working with thickened MX dyes to create color and pattern on cloth, in addition to hand painting yarns. See how easy it is to create one of a kind dyed cloth and fibers!!!

Instructor Bio:

Vicki Jensen is the Classroom Coordinator and Lab Manager for PRO™ Chemical & Dye. She has an MFA in Fibers from Arizona State University and completed a residency at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in 1996. Her teaching experience includes weaving, spinning, and quilting guilds around the United States. Her art quilts, woven ikat textiles, felt, and indigo-dyed shibori have been in many juried and invitational exhibitions and can be found in private collections in the United States and Japan.
