Our directions offer English metric measuring options and temperature guidelines. You will have better control over the results if you choose the metric system, however; it is most important that you use the measuring system that is most comfortable for you.

PRO MX Fiber Reactive Dyes

Designed to permanently dye cellulose fibers -- plant-based fibers like cotton, linen, ramie, hemp, viscose rayon, jute, paper, wood, basket reed, and even silk - at room temperature, 75° to 95° F (24° to 35° C). It also dyes protein fibers wool, silk -- using acid at a boil or with steam. This is the most reactive of all types of dyes and most versatile with excellent wash and light fastness properties. Colors range from delicate pastels to vibrant and are completely intermixable (111 colors offered in our catalog). Two ounces (58 gm) of dye will color 14 yards (13 meters) of cotton muslin to a medium shade in a solid shade dye bath or 12 T-shirts for tie dye PRO MX Reactive Dyes can be kept in solution (without fixative) for four to five days at room temperature

Sabracron F Reactive Dye

Designed to permanently dye cellulose fibers -- plant-based fibers like cotton, linen, ramie, hemp, viscose rayon, jute, paper, wood, basket reed, and even silk -- using warm water, 105° to 120° F (41° to 49° C). It also dyes protein fibers -- wool and silk -- using acid at a boil or with steam. Slightly less reactive than PRO MX Reactive Dyes and very versatile with excellent wash and light fastness properties. Colors range from delicate pastels to vibrant and are completely intermixable. Two ounces (58 gm) of dye will color 14 yards (13 meters) of cotton muslin to a medium in a solid shade dye bath or 12 T-Shirts for tie dye. Sabracron F Reactive Dyes can be kept in solution (without fixative) for two weeks at room temperature

PRO H Reactive Dyes

Designed to permanently dye cellulose fibers -- plant-based fibers like cotton, linen, ramie, hemp and viscose rayon. It also dyes protein fibers -- wool and silk using acid at a boil or with steam. They are available in powder (17 colors) and boost excellent wash and light fastness properties. This dye is the first choice of commercial printers and is excellent for hand painting on silk, linen or cotton. An ideal alternative to French dyes for Traditional Silk Painting because it needs less steam time and is concentrated. Heat set hand painted or printed fabric by steaming or in a clothes dryer, or at room temperature with PRO Fix LHF. Immersion dyeing needs 175° F (79° C) temperatures. Colors are very concentrated and are completely intermixable. Store PRO H Reactive Dyes with Dye Activator fixative for one month or with baking soda fixative for two months at room temperature.

Liquid Reactive Dyes

Designed to permanently dye cellulose fibers -- plant-based fibers like cotton, linen, ramie, hemp and viscose rayon. It also dyes protein fibers -- wool and silk using acid at a boil or with steam. They are currently available in (7 colors) and boost excellent wash and light fastness properties. This dye is the first choice of commercial printers and is excellent for hand painting on silk, linen or cotton. An ideal alternative to French dyes for Traditional Silk Painting because it needs less steam time and is concentrated. Heat set hand painted or printed fabric by steaming or at room temperature with PRO Fix LHF. Immersion dyeing needs 140° F (60° C) temperatures. Colors are very concentrated and are completely intermixable. Store Liquid Reactive Dyes with Dye Activator fixative for 3 weeks or with sodium acetate for two months at room temperature.

One Shot Dyes

Convenient professional dye for protein fibers -- animal fibers like wool, angora, silk, nylon, mohair and alpaca. Complete in one jar. Nothing to measure, just add water and boil. One jar dyes 2 pounds (900 gm) of yarn or fabric. There are 33 intermixable colors.

PRO WashFast Acid Dyes

Designed to permanently dye protein fibers -- animal fibers like wool, silk, angora, mohair, alpaca and nylon. These brilliant shades are carefully selected from available super milling and premetalized colors. They have excellent wash and light fastness properties. All colors intermix well and dye with a minimum of salt and acid. Substitute Ammonium Sulfate (for pastel to medium shades) or Citric Acid Crystals (for pastel to dark shades) for Acidic Acid 56% and obtain level dyeing results without the offensive odor. Apply at a boil for solid shade dyeing and steam set when printing, and painting or rainbow dyeing. Two ounces (58 gm) of dye powder will color 12 pounds (5.5 kilograms) of wool to a medium shade in a solid shade dye bath.

Sabraset Dyes

Designed to permanently dye protein fibers -- animal fibers like wool ,silk, angora, mohair, alpaca and nylon. They are a unique range of dyes made up of 1:2 metal complex and reactive dyes. They boast extremely high wash fastness and good to excellent light fastness. With their similar dyeing properties, they offer limitless color combinations. Apply at a boil for solid shade dyeing steam set when printing, hand painting or rainbow dyeing. Two ounces (58 gm) of dye powder will color 12 pounds (5.5 kilograms) of wool to a medium shade in a solid shade dye bath.

PRO Disperse Dyes

Designed to permanently dye synthetic fibers -- in particular polyester, acetate rayon, nylon, and acrylic. Solid shade dyeing is done at a boil. A swelling agent, PRO Dye Carrier NSC, is necessary for the dye to penetrate polyester fiber. Acrylic fibers do not dye dark; expect to achieve a pastel depth of shade only. Two ounces (58 gm) of dye powder will dye 25 lbs (11 kilograms) of polyester to a medium shade in a solid shade dye bath. Available in 13 intermixable colors. Note: many polyester and polyester-cotton fabrics have a permanent press finish. This must be removed before successful dyeing is achieved.

Transperse Transfer Printing Dyes

Your best choice for transfer printing on polyester and poly blends. Available in 9 intermixable colors. These dyes have a unique property of being able to be used for Transfer Printing. Mix these dyes into a thickened base and then paint or screen onto paper or mix them with water for watercolor painting. Once dry, transfer the image to polyester or nylon fabric with heat and pressure. No expensive equipment is required, as the heat and pressure can be as simple as a household iron; the paper can be copy paper. The process uses nontoxic materials, so it is safe to use with children. Excess paint is simply washed down the drain with no harmful effects to sewer or septic systems. Please Note: These dyes have the potential to stain any sink that is not made of stainless steel or fireclay ceramic. Test the colors first for transferability to your fabric.

Vat Dyes

Vat Dyes are a unique class of dye, similar to indigo, which go through a process of reduction to get on the fiber and then oxidation to become fixed on the fiber. Vat dyes lend themselves beautifully to bound resist techniques, like shibori, because they discharge the ground color and deposit a new color all in one step. It's just like magic!

Indigo Dyes

Indigo is a vat dye that is one of the oldest classes of dyes known. Until the late 19th century, indigo was obtained from plants, the most significant being Indigofera tinctoria. Experience, patience and a sensitivity for subtle color changes are necessary for successful dyeing. Obtain the darkest blues through a properly reduced vat and repeated dyeing to build color depth. Indigo requires a reducing agent: Thiox, and an alkali: Lye. When the fabric is removed from the yellow-green dye vat and begins to oxidize,the subtle changes from yellow-green through blue are captivating. Natural and synthesized indigo are chemically identical. We offer the more reliable version that is more concentrated than natural indigo, dyes uniformly, and is in a bead form for easy measuring.

Resists

Use resists to control the spread of dye. They can be mechanical, like tie dye, shibori, or other wrapping techniques or they can be liquid, which dry or solidify on the fabric. Liquid resists are based on water, solvent, resin or wax. Batik employs wax as its resist. Traditional silk painting techniques rely on solvent based gutta (pronounced like the cheese, Gouda) that forms an insoluble line stopping the flow of dye. Some people find the solvent fumes objectionable and prefer to work with water based gutta. However, because water based gutta is soluble in water, take care when applying dye so it does not dissolve the resist line. Apply resists through a squeeze bottle, by brush, roller, stamp, or sponge. The directions below describe how to apply the different resists to fabric. Discharge

Discharging is the chemical removal of color from the fabric. It is sometimes done to strip a color in preparation for over dyeing and is effectively used with resist techniques to pattern cloth. Dye is manufactured to stay on the cloth. Therefore, strong chemicals are required to remove the dye color. Use the discharge agents listed below with caution wear goggles, rubber gloves, a respirator and work outside or in an area with good ventilation.

Fabric Paint | Ink | Pigments

Designed for easy application to all fiber types including synthetic blends. Fabric paint contains a binder or adhesive that attaches an insoluble particle of color to the fabric. Textile paints do not penetrate the fiber but are available in intense colors - transparent, opaque, Pearlescent, and fluorescent. They come in difference consistencies - thick like jelly or thin like water. Transparent paints blend with the fabric color and look similar to a dye. Use Opaque paints to obscure the color or pattern already on the fabric. Pearlescent paints have a pearl or metallic sheen, without the metals. Fluorescent paints are luminous under black lights. They have good light and wash fastness.

They are intended to provide workers and emergency personnel with procedures for handling or working with products in a safe manner. SDS contain information pertaining to the particular product such as physical data, toxicity, health effects, first aid, reactivity, storage, disposal, protective equipment, and spill handling procedures.
